Arvi, commonly known as 'taro' is a starch-rich, globular fleshy taproot of the taro plant. Its delicious and crispy-textured meat becomes soft and edible once cooked and has nutty flavor just as in water chestnuts.
Eaten as a cooked vegetable, an ingredient to various recipes such as in stews which renders as a thickener, stir fries and can also be made into chips, added to puddings and breads.
Being a tuber, it is a natural source of energy and considered as a good source of carbohydrates and potassium. Arvi has more than twice as much fiber as potatoes. Dietary fiber improves digestive function and relieve issues like constipation, diarrhea and acid reflux.
